Monabi Mitra

Monabi Mitra lectures in English at Scottish Church College, Kolkata, by day and writes crime fiction by night. Married to an Indian Police Service officer, she tells stories of police life as it really is. She has written the DSP Bikram Chatterjee series (Penguin Random House India, 2012–2014), translated Ashapurna Debi’s short stories (The Matchbox, Rupa, 2004) and Sunil Gangopadhyay’s Moner Manush (The Fakir, Harper Perennial, 2010). She also co-wrote Under the Banyan Tree: The Forgotten Story of Barrackpore Park with Soumen Mitra. 

She loves dogs.
