Ranjan Kumar Singh

Ranjan Kumar Singh is a journalist, author, and filmmaker with over four decades of experience creating both print and audio-visual works that explore history, art, and culture. Known for blending archival precision with cinematic storytelling, he has produced landmark projects such as the docu-drama Nowshera ka Sher, which portrays the life and sacrifice of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, and the documentary Ek Duniya Sarhad Ki, capturing the lived realities along the Line of Control.

His long pursuit of Brigadier Usman culminated in Roar of the Lion, a biography born of decades of rigorous study and research. Singh has also documented the origins and ethos of the Naga Regiment, the first infantry regiment to be raised after Independence. With a dozen books published and numerous telefilms released, he has established himself as a distinguished voice in Indian military history and cultural interpretation.

Beyond his historical work, Singh is a scholar of literary and philosophical classics. He has presented papers on Indology and Upanishadic philosophy at conferences worldwide. Based in Delhi, he continues to bridge historical research with storytelling, ensuring that the voices of the frontier and the wisdom of tradition remain part of India’s living memory.
